Story Studio and HighTechU are collaborating this summer to create CodeWords, an 8-week online program designed to teach you how to code and how to tell a story. Participants will create their own ‘interactive fiction’ games: digital choose-your-own-adventures that let the reader determine the course of the story.
Participants will create their own ‘interactive fiction’ games using the Twine platform: digital choose-your-own-adventures that let the reader determine the course of the story. Online instructors from Story Studio and HighTechU mentor participants throughout the process, with guest speakers and advisors from the writing and gaming communities sharing their knowledge through guest presentations and workshops.
For children and youth between the ages of 14 – 18 across BC
Location: Online
Cost: $40 for 8 weeks (Financial assistance available)
Program Period: July 5 – August 27, 2021
Registration Deadline: July 4, 2021
As a part of this program, you will receive:
Access to an online classroom and writing resources
Online meetings with peers, and guest workshops by writers and game designers
Publication of your Twine game in a digital ‘arcade’ at the end of the program
Participants will be asked to commit to at least 8 hours of lessons over the course of 8 weeks.
